Job Description
As the Group Research and Development Specialist, you will create new, and refine existing, products and technologies through a process of researching, designing, experimenting, and testing on product concepts. The focus is to make sure that our companies keep up to date with competitors and market trends. The aim is to provide people with better products and services while boosting business profit. In this role, you’ll lead the company’s R&D team and product improvement efforts.
You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective solutions to creating new products to meet consumers’ needs. You will be involved in finding ways to enhance and redesign existing products or developing new products that match forecasted trends.
It can be a high-pressure job with many targets to hit, where you’ll need strong knowledge of both market innovation and business. As the Group R&D Specialist, you will be involved with exciting projects and work in all kinds of environments and departments with various people.
Duties & Responsibilities
POSITION REPORTING TO: TECHNICAL EXECUTIVE
OFFICE LOCATION: HEAD OFFICE
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE
- Leadership, Strategy, and development:
- Establish and manage the R&D team with relevant policy and procedural frameworks.
- Budget and forecast new research plans and developments.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
- Develop and implement research methodologies and data collection techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and to define research objectives and project scope.
- Design and execute experiments and trials to test new products, product designs, material, technologies, or processes in line with industry trends and target market needs.
- Analyze and interpret research data to generate insights and recommendations.
- Prepare and present reports, presentations, and summaries of research findings to stakeholders.
- Stay updated with industry advancements and emerging technologies relevant to the company’s products or services.
- Assist in the development and improvement of existing products or processes based on research findings.
- Collaborate with product development teams to translate research insights into actionable plans.
- Detect products at risk
- Support the intellectual property process by conducting patent searches and assisting in patent applications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, e.g. project management, engineering, technology
- Proven experience in conducting research and development projects, preferably in a related industry and in a leadership position.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address technical challenges.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation using statistical software and tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate research findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
