Dr Thandukwazi Kefeloe Bungane

Group Economist and Research Analyst

Dr Thandukwazi Kefeloe Bungane serves as the Group Economist and Research Analyst at Two Roads, where he leads the development of strategic economic insights, market intelligence, and data-driven research across the Group and its subsidiaries.

Before joining Two Roads, Dr Bungane was an Economist at Mintek, South Africa’s national mineral research council, where he provided economic and market analysis to guide strategic and commercial projects within the minerals and energy sectors. His work at Mintek included forecasting models, financial and technical modelling of mineral projects, and producing high-impact research publications and policy insights.

Previously, he worked as an Economist at ORI-Professionals, specializing in economic analysis, investment evaluation, deal structuring, and forecasting. Earlier in his career, he served as an Economist at AngloGold Ashanti, where he focused on aligning mining operations with sustainable development objectives, assessing the socio-economic impact of corporate initiatives, and contributing to public policy dialogue in the mining sector.

Dr Bungane holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics and an MBA from North-West University. He has published and presented extensively in the areas of mineral economics, financial modelling, market forecasting, sustainable resource development, and forecast accuracy of pricing models including contributions to the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM). His core expertise lies in macroeconomic analysis, quantitative and qualitative research, market intelligence, financial modelling, and industrial development strategy.

Through his role at Two Roads, Dr Bungane continues to advance data-driven economic intelligence, evidence-based policy insights, and research innovation that inform strategic decision-making, foster inclusive industrial growth, and support the Group’s expansion across South Africa, the African continent, and global markets.

In addition to his corporate and research work, Dr Bungane is actively involved in academia. He supervises postgraduate students at Regynesys Business School and the North-West University Business School, where he focuses on topics such as economic development, strategic management, and the intersection of technology and policy. His mentorship extends to research on industrial innovation, public policy, and the digital economy.
