Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE

 

Leadership and Management

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the project management, sheq, business development and bid departments.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the division.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to monitor progress and address any issues.

Project Oversight

  • Oversee the development of comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, resources, and budget.
  • Ensure all projects align with organizational goals and client expectations.
  • Monitor project execution and provide guidance to ensure adherence to plans and timelines.

Business Development, Bidding and Proposal Management

  • Lead the business development, bidding and proposal phase, including the preparation of bid documents and negotiation of contracts.
  • Review and approve all bids and proposals before submission.
  • Develop strategies to win new business and maintain a competitive edge in the market.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for high-level stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and senior management.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all stakeholders.
  • Address and resolve any issues or concerns raised by stakeholders promptly.

Resource and Budget Management

  • Allocate resources efficiently to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Oversee budget management to ensure departments are operating within approved budgets

Quality Assurance and Risk Management

  • Implement and monitor quality control processes across the departments.
  • Identify, assess, and manage departmental risks, developing contingency plans as needed.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the sheq, business development, project management and bidding teams.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on bid and project status, progress, and key performance indicators.
  • Conduct project reviews and evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.

Training and Development

  • Identify training needs and development opportunities for team members.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development to enhance team capabilities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in sheq, business development, project management and bidding.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in project management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing project management teams.
  • Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.

 

Working Conditions

  • This position may require occasional travel to various sites and client meetings within and outside of the borders of South Africa.
  • The Project Division Manager may need to work outside regular business hours to meet project deadlines.
